Standard yoga mats can be washed with a washing machine on a regular wash cycle. But Ashley suggest that you should hang them out to dry naturally instead of using the electric dryer. Drying yoga mats naturally is pretty fine for these standard type of yoga mats. If you have one of those special, eco – friendly rubber yoga mats, then it would be helpful to ask the distributor or manufacturer for some special instructions for cleaning your yoga mat.
In between these wash cycles, you can spray on some mild soap on your standard yoga mats. Then wipe the soap off with some warm damp cloth to get off the soapy residue. You will also would need to wipe the surface off with a nice clean cloth within the drying time. This is to make sure that your yoga mats are squeaky clean.
